Surprising retelling of the King Arthur legend that provides a sort of prequel from Uther Pendragon's perspective. Rich historical backdrop of early Briton rarely seen in fantasy. Interesting and somewhat unique versions of Merlyn and the Lady of the Lake. Overall outstanding read.
